At Glen Elm Community School, we know that every day is important for students' success. Our goal is to have every student attend every day. Regina Public Schools, together with the Saskatchewan School Boards Association (SSBA) and other school boards across the province, is promoting the importance of being present and participating at school. The theme is "Be present at school -- every day counts".
To honour and reinforce the importance of education, Sept. 1, 2015 – the first day back at school in Saskatchewan – was proclaimed Provincial Students’ Day in the province by the Hon. Don Morgan, Minister of Education and this theme was announced by school divisions and the SSBA. According to Minister Morgan, "Provincial Students’ Day highlights the importance of being ready to learn in the classroom today and throughout the year."
The theme of “Be present at school – every day counts” is Student First and supports the targets set out in the Education Sector Strategic Plan to improve student achievement in Saskatchewan.

Glen Elm Community School's Grade 8 Farewell will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 6:30pm in our gymnasium. We are looking forward to this celebration of learning for our students. Invitations will be going home with students later this week.
In order to prepare for our GECS Grade Eight Farewell Celebration that will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015, we will be holding a Grade Eight Parent/Guardian meeting on Tuesday, March 31st at 6:30pm in our school’s library. We ask that all parents attend.
This meeting will look at the details of the Farewell Celebrations and will also allow for parents to start planning for any student celebrations that will occur after the school ceremony. We hope that you are able to attend!
One other date that we encourage you to mark on your calendar is Wednesday April 15, 2015. That morning, all of our grade eight students will have their pictures taken by Life Touch for the School’s Farewell Composite Picture that will be posted in our hallway. Parents will also be able to purchase copies of their child’s picture should you wish to do so!
